Humpback whales complete one of the longest migrations in the animal kingdom, swimming from the frigid waters of the Antarctic to mate and give birth along South Africa’s coast. A gruesome past saw these beautiful creatures hunted to the brink of extinction, but this story of hope celebrates the triumph of life as whales from a rebounding population gather for the most crucial part of their annual cycle.
