Charlie Luckock is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who has produced and directed films for international broadcasters including the BBC, Disney+, Showmax, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, Smithsonian Earth, and Sky Nature.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Charlie moved to the documentary hub of Bristol. Over 5 years he honed his skills under the guidance of some of the best producers, directors and execs in the industry. In 2015 Charlie’s time in Bristol culminated with him producing and directing WILD INDONESIA for National Geographic.

In 2017 Charlie directed his first feature documentary NIGERIA’S LOST GENERATION, which premiered internationally and won the 'Best International Documentary' award at Jozi Film Festival. Charlie went on to direct FAR FROM HOME the following year, winning the 'Outstanding Documentary' award at the Abuja International Film Festival.
In 2019 Charlie directed OUR OCEANS, a feature documentary exploring the industrial threats facing the South African coastline. The film has been screened around the world and continues to spread awareness about the conditions of Africa's oceans.
Charlie's next film THE EDGE OF EXISTENCE – focused on human-wildlife conflict in Africa. After a worldwide festival tour, where the film picked up 'Best Humans & Nature Film' at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in New York, 'Best Feature' at the British Documentary Festival in London and 'Best People & Nature Film' at the Wildlife Film Festival in Rotterdam, THE EDGE OF EXISTENCE is now streaming exclusively on Showmax.
Following 15 successful years in the film and television industry as a freelance Producer and Director, Charlie founded Theta Films, a specialist documentary production company based in Cape Town. Along with a talented team of filmmakers Theta combines a high-quality cinematic style with raw emotion to reveal planet earth, and the lives of those living on it, in a way that is both imaginative and inspiring, captivating and critical. Theta has three key elements; producing original non-fiction films and series, servicing international productions filming in Africa, and distributing African media internationally.
Charlie's latest work will be featured on a landmark Disney+ series due to premiere globally in 2024.
